The Board of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC), the premier international arbitration institution in Central and Eastern Europe, elected Dr. Nikolaus Pitkowitz as President on September 12, 2022. Dr. Nikolaus Pitkowitz, founding partner and head of the dispute resolution practice group, sets strong goals for the years coming: “I intend to strengthen Vienna’s role as a leading disputes hub and to focus on the institution’s four pillars: international commercial arbitration (with a focus on energy transformation and legal tech), domestic arbitration (with a focus on construction and M&A disputes), mediation, as well as investment arbitration.”
